How did I get here?
(the short version)
I started my coaching career during my freshman year of undergrad as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor.
BURN OUT! I was frustrated that I wasn’t able to solve many of the problems my clients faced such as not being able to run or lift without pain.
I completed a 13-month long certification called the Active Life Professional (ALP) where I learned how to help people struggling with pain and injuries, and bridge the gap between healthcare and fitness.
In March of 2024, I took a big leap of faith to start MPowers Coaching!
After helping dozens of runners get out of pain and back to running races, I decided to niche down so that I could help more runners do what they love the most.

Here’s the story of how I got here…

Growing up, I was an avid swimmer, runner, and triathlete. I loved challenging myself, striving to beat my personal records, and seeing how far I could push my limits. In middle school, my dad—a retired PE teacher—introduced me to strength training. At first, I was reluctant to try it, but I quickly fell in love. It was during that time I realized that coaching would someday become my career.
Fast forward to 2019: I graduated high school and started my first semester at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. There were three main reasons I chose UMass:
The Marching Band (I had been in marching band for eight years!)
The strong Kinesiology program
A gym nearby that offered an internship
I began interning at that facility during the spring semester of my freshman year, eager to gain hands-on experience working with clients. Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit, pausing my internship for a few months. When the gym reopened later that year, I was hired as a part-time coach.
Over the next four years, I had the privilege of working with people of all ages and backgrounds. From teenagers aspiring to play ultimate frisbee in college to grandparents striving for independent living and even their first pull-up, each client taught me something valuable.
I quickly noticed how often people struggled with injuries or persistent aches and pains that seemed impossible to shake. This inspired me to become skilled at modifying movements to work around pain. Over time, I earned a reputation as the coach who could help clients leave the gym feeling better than when they arrived.
While I was proud to help clients work around pain, I knew I wanted to do more. I wanted to help people move beyond pain entirely, empowering them to run, lift, and live without limitations. This drive led me to invest in a 13-month coaching certification through the Active Life Professional program, where I gained the knowledge to bridge the gap between healthcare and fitness and support clients in overcoming pain and injuries.
After graduating college, I felt a pull to return to Boston, closer to friends and family. I was also ready for the next big step. In January 2024, MPowers Coaching was born.
Within a few months of starting my business, I realized the importance of narrowing my focus to work with a specific group. Drawing from my own experiences with hip, back, and knee injuries that kept me from running, combined with my passion for helping other runners overcome their struggles with injuries, it became clear that being a strength coach for runners was the perfect fit.
Today, I’m proud to dedicate my career to helping runners move out of pain, build strength, and stay on the road toward crossing finish lines.
